To determine the number of pages in a project, count the number of words in the document and divide by 250 — or set the text in 12 point type with double-spaced lines and count the 8.5-x-11 inch pages that are created.

COPYEDITING — BY THE PAGE, HOUR OR DAY
(includes electronic alteration or annotation of word processing file)

Technical editing (style consistency, spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.) = $3.50/manuscript page

Heavy editing (sentence/paragraph structure, word usage, clarity of communication,  as well as style consistency, spelling, etc.) = $5.50/manuscript page or $150/day

PROOFREADING — BY THE PAGE
(includes electronic alteration or annotation of word processing file)

Proofreading (spelling, grammar, punctuation) of publication layouts/web layouts (8.5 x 11 equivalents) =
$2.50/page-proof page

Proofreading (spelling, grammar, punctuation) of word-processed manuscript =
$30 project fee + $2.50/manuscript page

COACHING, CONSULTING AND OTHER SERVICES

Writing coaching/instructional editing = $50/hour

Public relations/promotional consulting = $50/hour

Other services, including publications design/production, photo research, compilation of custom text style manuals = Rate to be negotiated
